This fleur de sel is harvested in the Atlas Mountains surrounding Marrakech, in Morocco. The groundwater here is naturally pure, saline and exceptionally rich in minerals.

Salt workers dig wells to draw the water that feeds the salt pans nestled among these mountains. This unique setting, exceptionally exposed to the sun and wind, gives the fleur de sel a taste that is both marine and mineral: a distinctive meeting of land and sea.

Its ‘Majorelle blue’ jar is inspired by the barrel cactus and the famous blue of the Majorelle Garden in Marrakech.

Marrakech fleur de sel is available in a 100 g jar, supplied with a wooden spoon.

Add fleur de sel as a finishing touch, just before serving: to grilled meat, fish, a tomato, an avocado, mashed potatoes — even dark chocolate.

Take a pinch between your fingers and scatter it lightly. Do not add it during cooking: the heat would melt the crystals, losing the crunch that makes them so special.

Its crystals are gentler than table salt: they crunch between the teeth, then melt on the tongue.

Fleur de sel is the fine layer of white crystals that forms on the surface of salt marshes under the influence of wind and sun. It does not form every day: everything depends on the weather, as with a fine wine.

The salt harvesters — nicknamed the farmers of the sea — gather it by hand with a fleur de sel skimmer to avoid breaking the crystals. Depending on its origin, the sunshine and the wind, each fleur de sel develops a crunch, colour and flavour all its own.

Our quality charter

It took two years to find and select the finest fleur de sel. We work only with artisan salt harvesters who follow three rules without exception: harvesting by hand with a fleur de sel skimmer, natural drying in the sun, no additives or processing.

It is a craft passed down from generation to generation. The weather and harvesting technique matter as much as they do for a fine wine — none of it can be industrialised.

Storage

Since 2018, salt and fleur de sel have had neither a use-by nor a best-before date: this is a 100% natural product, long used as a preservative. You can therefore enjoy it indefinitely.

Simply keep the jar away from moisture to preserve all its qualities. The cork stopper lets the salt breathe.

Delivery and returns

Orders prepared within 1 to 3 working days. Delivery to mainland France and Europe within 3 to 6 working days.

You have 14 days after receipt to notify us of a return. The product must be returned intact in its original packaging.

The farmers of the sea

A craft, not a production line

Being a salt maker is, above all, a vocation passed down from generation to generation. The weather and harvesting technique matter as much as they do for a fine wine.

We have chosen artisans who remain fascinated by nature, who understand and tend both sea and land. Their harvest is of such quality that, once the salt has been gathered, nothing more is needed.

Your questions, our answers

What is the difference between fleur de sel and table salt?

Fleur de sel is the fine layer of crystals that forms on the surface of salt marshes; it is harvested by hand. Richer in minerals, its crystals are gentler and its flavour far less harsh than ordinary salt: they crunch between the teeth before melting on the tongue.

When should I add it to a dish?

Always at the last moment, just before serving. During cooking, the crystals melt and lose their crunch — the very quality that makes them special.

Why does the flavour vary by origin?

Because sunshine, wind and the nature of the salt pans directly affect the crystals. Fleur de sel from Guérande has a faint violet aroma; mountain fleur de sel, harvested from saline underground springs, has a more mineral character.

How long does it keep?

Indefinitely. Since 2018, salt has had neither a use-by nor a best-before date. Simply keep the jar away from moisture.

Is the jar reusable?

Yes. It is made from handcrafted ceramic in Portugal, with a cork stopper. Designed to sit on the table, it can also be refilled.

Do you deliver outside France?

Yes, throughout Europe, within 3 to 6 working days. For destinations outside Europe or orders over 10 kg, please write to us at sales@les-terres-blanches.fr.
