Harvested by hand by dedicated artisans in the Guérande salt marshes, these sea salt crystals are the fruit of centuries-old techniques passed down through generations. Gathered with traditional wooden tools, they retain the salt’s natural purity and mineral richness.

Celebrated by gourmets and leading chefs around the world, Guérande salt crystals stand out for their fine texture, immaculate whiteness and delicate aroma with subtle hints of violet. A true treasure of French gastronomy, Guérande sea salt remains one of the world’s most respected and sought-after salts.

Guérande fleur de sel is available in two sizes: a 100 g jar, supplied with a wooden spoon, and an 80 g jar, without a spoon.

Known for its floral notes reminiscent of violet, this salt brings a touch of refinement to delicate dishes. Use it as a finishing salt for scallops, foie gras, roasted root vegetables or desserts such as dark chocolate and caramel.

At the foot of the medieval town of Guérande, on the Guérande peninsula, fleur de sel is harvested by artisans in a distinctive landscape of salt marshes shaped over more than a thousand years.

On the surface of the traditional clay-bottomed salt pans, delicate crystals form naturally under the sun and wind before being gathered by hand by the salt harvesters. This ancestral craft, passed down from generation to generation, produces fleur de sel of great purity, recognisable by its fine crystals and remarkable whiteness.

Our quality charter

It took two years to find and select the finest fleur de sel. We work only with artisan salt harvesters who follow three rules without exception: harvesting by hand with a traditional fleur de sel rake, natural drying in the sun, no additives or processing.

It is a craft passed down from generation to generation. The weather and harvesting technique matter as much as they do for a fine wine — none of it can be industrialised.

Storage

Since 2018, salt and fleur de sel have required neither a use-by date nor a best-before date: salt is a 100 % natural product long used as a preservative. You can therefore enjoy it indefinitely.

Simply keep the pot away from moisture to preserve all its qualities. The cork stopper allows the salt to breathe.

Delivery and returns

Orders prepared within 1 to 3 working days. Delivery to mainland France and Europe within 3 to 6 working days.

You have 14 days after receipt to notify us of a return. The product must be returned intact in its original packaging.

The farmers of the sea

A craft, not a production line

Becoming a salt harvester is, above all, a vocation born of passion, passed down from generation to generation. The weather and harvesting technique matter as much as they do for a fine wine.

We have chosen artisans who remain fascinated by nature and know how to work with both sea and land. Their harvest is of such quality that, once the salt has been gathered, nothing more is needed.

Your questions, our answers

What is the difference between fleur de sel and table salt?

Fleur de sel is the fine layer of crystals that forms on the surface of salt marshes; it is harvested by hand. Richer in minerals, its crystals are more delicate and its flavour far less harsh than ordinary salt: it crunches between the teeth before melting on the tongue.

When should I add it to a dish?

Always at the last moment, just before serving. During cooking, the crystals dissolve and lose their crunch — the very quality that makes them special.

Why does the flavour vary from one place of origin to another?

Because sunshine, wind and the nature of the salt pans directly affect the crystals. Fleur de sel from Guérande has a subtle violet aroma; mountain fleur de sel, harvested from underground salt springs, has a more mineral character.

How long does it keep?

Indefinitely. Since 2018, salt has required neither a use-by date nor a best-before date. Simply keep the pot away from moisture.

Is the pot reusable?

Yes. The ceramic pot is handcrafted in Portugal and has a cork stopper. It is designed to sit on the table and be refilled.

Do you deliver outside France?

Yes, throughout Europe, within 3 to 6 working days. For destinations outside Europe or orders over 10 kg, please email us at sales@les-terres-blanches.fr.
